The results are in from at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition!
Congrats to Sagamore Spirit for winning Best Rye Whiskey and Heaven Hill Distilleries’ Henry McKenna Bottled-in-Bond for winning Best Single Barrel Bourbon – Up to 10 Years.
During a blind tasting round – four days of highly-controlled blind taste tests– judges sample every product to decide its merit. They receive no information regarding producer or pricing, ensuring each spirit is judged fairly.
During the medaling round, products are judged on an individual basis—not compared to other entries in the flight. During this stage, judges determine which entries are worthy of Double Gold, Gold, Silver, Bronze medal.
On the final day, select Double Gold spirits advance to the Sweepstakes round where the Best of Class and Best in Show Premium Award winners are determined.
Rachel Fontana from the Sagamore Spirit shared that their team was excited and visitor center traffic had spiked after the announcement.
