Solid Light Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Solid Light is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a full slate of notable projects, including The American Civil War Museum in Richmond, Virginia, and the forthcoming Heaven Hill Distillery Visitors Center in Bardstown, Kentucky. The full-service firm, which plans, designs, and builds exhibits and visitor destinations, was founded in 1999 by Cynthia Torp. The 100% woman-owned business is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky.

During the past 20 years, Solid Light has transformed audiences’ understanding and passion for museums, branded environments, educational institutions, and public spaces by telling stories in memorable, engaging ways. These projects include Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage in Nashville, Tennessee; the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale, Mississippi; and The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience in Louisville, Kentucky.

“I started Solid Light with two employees in 1999 in the attic of my house. Within two years, the business was strong enough to move to a rented space in downtown Louisville,” said Solid Light Owner/President Cynthia Torp. “I’m very proud of the great work we’ve accomplished and I’m grateful for the clients and team members who have helped build the business.”

The company is well respected for their collaborative, innovative approach – immersing themselves in the story to create a clear vision that is executed through design, interactive media, and custom-fabricated pieces.

The company moved to its current 55,000 square foot facility in July 2017 and has more than 45 employees.
